Mrs. Farzana Jameel sworn as President’s Counsel



Mrs. Farzana Jameel, LL.B (Colombo), LL.M (Colombo), LL.M (London), created history this morning by being the first Muslim lady to be sworn in as President’s Counsel.

Mrs. Jameel was called to the Bar in 1988, and was appointed State Counsel in 1990. She has held office as Senior State Counsel and Deputy Solicitor General before being promoted as Additional Solicitor General.
Mrs. Farzana Jameel is the wife of Dr. Fahim Jameel, who was for some time the President of the Sri Lanka Dental Association, and is the daughter in law of former Supreme Court Judge, the late Justice M. Jameel.
She has succeessfully blended her professional career with academics and family life. She is the mother of two children, Sarah Jameel and Imran Jameel.
