SLFP MP Duminda Dissanyake said the 2019 Budget presented by the Finance Minister had something positive for the people and that in his personal opinion it was a satisfactory budget.
He said however, they would have to take a decision as a party when the budget is taken up for voting. “The opposition’s task has been to object to all proposals brought in by the government.
We need to change this tradition. There is no reason to approve a proposal brought by us and to object when it is brought by the opposition. We need to support constructive proposals,” he said.
The MP said SLFP Chairman and President, Maithripala Sirisena, had under him several ministries and added that they could not support the expenditure heads of the President while objecting to the expenditure heads of other ministries.
